Hospice Billing


Medicare billing is a crucial part of hospice reimbursement. Make sure billing staff fully understands regulatory requirements. Attend the upcoming workshop taught by billing expert, Melinda Gaboury who will lay the concrete foundation for hospice billing. Training will include Medicare verifications with HIQA screen examples, field by field on Notice of Election and claim forms and sequential billing requirements. Gaboury will review the regulations for billing all hospice services (SN, HHA, MSW and therapy), face-to-face encounters and additionally home health providing care while a patient is on service with hospice. The event will conclude with many of the day-to-day scenarios that billers face such as: transfers, discharge, revocation, re-election and room and board. If you are part of the billing cycle in hospice this workshop is a must!

Participants of this workshop will learn how to do the following:

• Conduct overview of eligibility requirements for the Hospice Benefit.

• Review Hospice Benefit Periods

• Review Eligibility Verifications using DDE screens from Medicare system

• Review Notice of Election details

• Review line item requirements including 15-minute increments for claims

• Review Sequential billing requirements with examples

• Review regulations for billing following services: Skilled Nursing for Home Health Aides, MSW including phone calls, and Therapy

• Review Hospice Face-to-Face Requirements

• Review the effect of home health on hospice billing

• Detail Process of Late Charge Claims and dealing with late physician signatures

• Review steps for dealing with the following: Transfers, Discharges, Revocations, and re-elections

• Review Medicaid Room and Board Billing

Melinda Gaboury

Melinda Gaboury is co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Healthcare Provider Solutions, Inc. (HPS).Melinda Gaboury Melinda Gaboury and Mark Cannon founded the company in April 2001 to provide financial, reimbursement, clinical and cost reporting services to home health agencies and hospice. Prior to the inception of Medicare PPS Gaboury began researching, auditing and review processes with OASIS, ICD-9 Coding and clinical documentation. She has developed and taught clinician and billing Medicare PPS Training Workshops in a variety of venues. Gaboury’s priority remains bridging the gap between clinical and financial issues in home health agencies. Gaboury has been a speaker for several state home care associations. In addition to her speaking engagements and consulting, she is author of Home Health Pocket Guide to OASIS-C.

CONTINUING EDUCATION UNITS (CEU)


Continuing Education Units will be provided to participants who attend the program in its entirety. Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing (Provider #CEP2463 and by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (Provider #PCE588) for five and one half (5.5) contact hours of continuing education. You must be present for the entire workshop to earn Continuing Education Units. No partial credits can be given.

CANCELLATION POLICY

Cancellations received 10 business days prior to the program date are subject to a 20% handling fee. Cancellations must be in writing. NO REFUNDS will be issued for cancellations received within 10 business days of the program. Refunds will NOT be made for no-shows. However, substitutions will be allowed. Should CAHSAH cancel the program, a full registration fee refund will be issued.
